This involves the use of teaching-learning devices that appeal to the auditory sense. .

 

Types/Format

 

 

They consist of radio sets, audio recording machines such as audiotapes, disc machines, etc. and digital audio formats such as those in the form of cds, dvds, and streamed content.

 

Integration in Education/Educational Implication

 

Enhances learning of verbal information

- ideal for language teaching (first and second language)

- useful for those who have reading difficulties

Ø Can be used as mood music

Ø Frequently used in rhythmic activities i.e. aerobics

Games for encouraging listening skills - Stimulus sounds

Extended Schooling

Students at remote locations are instructed by radio under the direction of a parent or tutor. Since 1970 Mexico’s Radioprimaria has provided 4th, 5th and 6th grade education in several rural communities.

Distance Learning

A modification of correspondence school. The programs are usually accompanied with print study materials
